Different Options

When it comes to creating an open sign you have quite a few options you could choose from. The first thing you'll want to decide is whether or not you'd prefer a illuminated sign or a more standard non-electric sign. From there you have a number of choices to make in terms of designing your actual sign. Here is a list of some of the standard open sign options and their benefits to help you choose which is the perfect option for you.

Illuminated Signs

laseredThese signs are great for drawing attention and letting your customer know that you're open and ready for their business. These signs contain their own internal lighting system which is fantastic for businesses which plan on staying open late into the night. Illuminated open signs attract attention by drawing potential customers attention because of their bright lights and often vibrant colours. Design options for illuminated signs can vary. Your first option would be a back-lit sign where the light shines from behind the sign and the design of the sign is actually illuminated. This type of sign generally is more customizable as the lighting source does not need to be reshaped or modified, instead it is just used to light up the specific design of the sign. Your second option would be to use a more traditional neon open sign. These signs are easily accessible and are incredibly bright but are very difficult to customize. If you're looking for something that you can add a personal touch to your best option would be a back-lit sign.

Open SignTraditional Non-Illuminated Signs

If you feel that an illuminated sign may be more than what you need, then you may want to go the route of a more traditional style open sign. Some of the biggest benefits to choosing a non-illuminated open sign are their cost effectiveness and customization. There are a couple of options for designs and styles with non-illuminated signage so here's a list of some of the styles we would recommend to best grab your potential customer's attention.

A-Frame Signs

Custom A-FrameThis type of sign is great for drawing in customer's off the sidewalk, particularly if your business is located in a busy area. A-Frame signs are completely customizable and act as a great marketing tool for your business. Many companies (restaurants in particular) will also use their A-Frame signs to display daily specials or other promotions that may be going on at the time. Though you may want to display some "Now Open" text on the sign, it isn't completely necessary. Most customers will understand that when the sign is out the business is open, but when it's gone the business is closed. Coroplast Signs

Coroplast signs are made from a corrugated plastic sheet that's sturdy and weatherproof. This is typically the material that you would see election signs, lawn signs or real estate signs made from. You have a couple of options when using this type of sign as an open sign. Many people choose to make their signs from this material and hang it in the window of their business, but others may choose to use it as a lawn sign and have it placed in front of their store. You have full reign of the design of this sign as we're able to digitally print anything pertaining to your business that you'd like. We suggest using coroplast material because of its resistance to wear and tear and cost effectiveness, but there are other materials such as foam board, plastic, wood, aluminum or acrylic that could be used for an open sign. Contact us today if you have any questions about which type of material may be best for you.
